1970s Algerian Folk & Soda (Sublime Frequencies, SF088CD, 2014)
This in turn compilation includes recordings from first 1970s Algeria. Although the title guarantees folk and pop, the selection also contains more than that. The music ranges from 1960s-style pop, surf and psychedelia that more modern rock oriented material. Traditional western pop and rock influences are probably evident throughout most of the tracks.

Highlights include the two regarding psychedelic Arabic rock by Rachid & Fethi: 'Habit en Ich' and 'Ana Ghrib'; the and also the instrumental 'Hawajez' by Ahmed Malek (who is also present with a Procol Harum-style electric organ instrumental); then 'Nadia', a great Arabic rock a key component featuring electric guitar and darbuka ustensiles by Les Djinns.
